Spring 07

I survived my first practicum! Smile Not only did I not traumatize myself, but no students ran from the class crying either! It was actually enjoyable, especially the last day when my afternoon lesson was a snakes & ladders game I personalized for them. They practiced everything they learned that week and showed progress, which I was so proud to see. The class was a level 1, so beginners, which worried me at first (everyone is afraid of 1’s, even teachers), but after observing them before hand, I realized they were a fun group. The students were from Iran, China, Afghanistan, and Korea - a very fascinating bunch that I learned a lot from.

It was a week of plenty of laughing & learning for them and me. I actually look forward to my next one, probably in August. Maybe I’ll even do a level 5! Surprised (the last level)

Before my practicum was big time deer season at the trail near our house. Every evening when I went for a run I saw families of 4-6 deer. This particular night they were quite bold and ate right next to the path, so I was able to snap these shots with my phone camera!

This baby was something else, just stood & stared at me for awhile, and actually started walking towards me. I tell ya, no fear. Kinda stupid. As they say, easy huntin.

Not too bad for a phone camera, huh?

My spring garden has come and gone fast…that’s spring for ya. Here’s my daffodils…

and double tulips. They only last 3 weeks, tops.

My Misty turned 18 at the beginning of May - yup, she’s old. She’s an indoor cat, so cries like she’s being groomed if I try and bring her outside to sit. But Hubby has a different affect with her. Paws down, she will do anything he wants, purring all the while. So he decided one afternoon to take her out to the back yard. That’s when the Misty & Casey adventure began. The neighbour dog Casey was out, and they never met before. Misty sauntered over to the fence, Casey saw her and proceeded to sniff, whimper, bark and try & dig through the fence to get at her.

He jumped and howled and did his hyper circle dog dance, full of joy and pain. He really wanted to break through the fence and play. All the while Misty just sat calmly and gave her cattitude, as if “um, what’s the big deal, ya never seen a cat before?” When Casey pawed at her and made contact, he got a nasty fishy Misty hiss and the adventure was brought to an end. It was torture for him, his family has had cats before, who he loved to play with.

lemme at her!!

maybe next time Casey!  Wink
